Developed by ViaMichelin, the applications list all of the restaurants selected by the MICHELIN guide, including starred restaurants and Bib Gourmand eateries offering excellent value for money. They have been available since April 30 in English for the United States and in five languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Italian) for the European countries.

The applications are sold for the iPhone and iPod Touch via the iTunes App Store, where they may be found by searching for “Michelin.” Purchase requires an iTunes account. Currently it’s only available for New York and San Francisco area.

In just seconds, the applications enable an iPhone user to find a nearby restaurant and call for a reservation. Each listing comes with detailed information, including address, phone number, opening hours, awards and MICHELIN guide comments. Users can also upload and share their opinion of the restaurant, by rating such features as “quality products,” “inexpensive,” “good value for money” and “friendly welcome.”

Prices range from $6.99 for each of the US apps and Euro 7.99 for each of the European countries to euro 14.99 for the European title listing all of the restaurants selected in Europe.

The MICHELIN guide, and mobile phone applications work in close synergy to offer services directly related to Michelin’s commitment to supporting sustainable mobility. Indeed, what could be more mobile than to choose and book a nearby restaurant from your phone?
