iPhone 3GS Security Cracked!
A new feature shipped with iPhone 3GS is encryption in an attempt to plug a hole that has been for so long one of the main reasons why iPhone has been seen as not yet ready for corporate use which requires security as part of the package. Unfortunately for the new iPhone 3GS, Jonathan Zdziarski has recently demonstrated in a few minutes how easy it is to decrypt iPhone data and simple remove the SIM to prevent remote-wipe. He also noted that he has “[never] seen encryption implemented so poorly before”.
This is bad publicity for Apple on the security side of the iPhone, as implementing poor encryption while trying to compete with RIM Blackberry devices is essentially giving the users a false sense of security.
Apple is yet to comment on these findings.
